Saw Theft

On the evening of Friday, August 9th, 2007 there was a theft from a vehicle on 2nd St W across from the hospital. Two circular saws were taken from a pickup truck. This would have happened between 11:00pm and 7:00am the next morning.

President James E. Faust Passes Away

President James E. Faust, second counselor in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, died at his home early Friday morning surrounded by his family.

President Faust, 87, had served in the First Presidency since 1995 and as a General Authority of the Church for 35 years. A Church statement today said that President Faust had died of “causes incident to age.”

The funeral will be held on Tuesday in the Salt Lake Tabernacle on Temple Square.

President Faust was appointed second counselor in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on 12 March 1995. The First Presidency is the highest presiding body in the government of the Church .

Fireworks Postponed!!!

The Town of Cardston wishes to inform residents that the fireworks scheduled for Heritage Days on Sat. Aug. 11 @ 10:30pm have been postponed as ordered by Cardston County Emergency Services due to the extreme dry conditions in Town and the fire ban for our area.

Friends may meet the family ONLY at the Cardston Seniors’ Centre on Wednesday, August 8th from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.

The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Cardston Alberta Stake Centre (East Hill), 338 - 5 Avenue East, Cardston on Thursday, August 9th, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with Bishop DeRay Jensen Officiating. Interment in the Woolford Cemetery.

Theft from Jetta

During the Canada celebration at Lion’s Park on 2007-07-02, a small Turquoise Volkswagen Jetta was broken into sometime after 11:00pm. The vehicle was parked in the parking lot near the park entrance. The driver’s side window was smashed, and it appears the lock was tampered with. The owner’s wallet was stolen.
