Water Main Break UPDATE

UPDATE: The break has been isolated. The affected area is now limited to 4th Ave W. from 4th St. W to 7th St. W. Public Works anticipates having the break repaired and water pressure returned to normal by 4:30 PM today.

Water Main Break

There is a break in the water main which is affecting residences in the area of 12th St. W. to 5th St. W, from 3rd Ave to the Waterton Highway. This area will be affected with low pressure or no water availability until Public Works crews can isolate the break in the water main. Once they isolate the break, only one or two blocks will continue to be affected. Once we have more information we will post it on the Town’s Website and on Channel 32, so please stay tuned. Thank you for your patience as we work to resolve this situation.

Call for Volunteers

The Town of Cardston is putting out a call for volunteers to fill positions on the Communities in Bloom Committee and to help with the committee’s projects. The committee meets monthly from March to October and is responsible for coordinating Cardston’s beautification projects. The committee is looking for new members who have ideas on how to beautify the Town and who want to participate in making those ideas a reality.
The Communities in Bloom Committee coordinates projects to improve the Town in the areas of tidiness, environmental awareness, heritage conservation, urban forestry, landscaping, and floral displays. The committee is also interested in pursuing ideas in the areas of recycling and environmental initiatives, town decoration, and resource conservation. The committee is gearing up to participate in a provincially judged competition between communities in 2014 making this call for volunteers of particular importance.
The Town is looking for individuals with a ‘green thumb’ to help with some small floral projects. Individuals wanting to volunteer for the committee positions or to help with the committee’s projects may contact:
• Carole Sommerfeldt, Committee Chair: 403-653-3040
• Terah Thesen, Administrative Support: 403-653-3366
